anemone
I bought two atlantic anemones about three weeks ago. They both seem to be doing well, except that one, which was originally brownish, has gotten to be a much lighter shade, and is almost white before the tips. I have two 96W pcs and i feed the anemones Prime Reef frozen food about every week to week and a half. My parameters are pretty good. Why should the anemones color be fading?
Thanks |

Hi Franklin,
Here's a link for you to browse and get more information about your Condylactis gigantea anemone. http://animaldiversity.ummz.umich.ed..._gigantea.html I personally think that perhaps it needs more nutrition and more light, presence of another anemone in close proximity could be an issue as well. First thing first, though, I would try to feed it something more meaty, like good size chunks of krill or silversides. They are pretty carnivorous beasts and would appreciate meaty foods. If well fed the light issue may be not as big of a problem. That is not to say that they would probably enjoy more of the "sunshine" as they do come from shallow waters, relatively speaking. ![]()

are all anemones meat eaters, because I picked up a host one yesterday that is sort of reddish-greenish and the clowns I have love him when he is not under any rocks, but I feed my tank the zooplyton is that good enough or do i need something more. If I do feed them more do I just place a piece in his tenticles until he gets use to it.

Could you take a picture of your anemone so we can be on the same page when we discussing it, diet or what not. It could be number of species from your description and I don't think general answer will apply. At least, if you could provide common or scientific name, we can be more specific then. Having said that, I think most if not all anemones are carnivorous, feeding it zooplankton doesn't seem to be enough, I don't think, in terms of amount of food needed.
