Talking Coral Selection

I have some questions regarding which corals everyone feels that I may be able to sustain in my tank (LPS, SPS, etc..)? I have a power compact light system with 4 x 65 watt, 2-65w Dual Daylight (10,000K & 6,700K) and 2-65w Dual Actinic ( 460nm & 420nm) pc bulbs with 4 moon lights. I have a standard 55g , I am unsure of the depth but i know its under 20". Please suggest what categories of corls you'd recommend as well as ones you'd recommend staying away from. Thanks as always

I wouldn't try putting SPS or LPS with compact lighting. Softies would probably do just fine and look very good though! Soft corals like star polyps, Xenia, and some leathers are easy to keep.

Most LPS will do just fine if placed within 12" of the lights. For SPS corals Montipora sp. have about the same requirements as LPS. Some of the deep water corals they have been bringing in from Bali should also work. Remember though that lighting is only part of the requirement. Flow and water quality are just as important.

HTH,
Kevin

Talking Flow?

I wanted to know if someone could suggest a powerhead that will put out lots of flow! I dont want to get multiple ones since my tank is small and I want to be able to see everything?

Check out the Tunze Stream 6060; it is about 1600gph and would be perfect for a 55 gallon tank.

Alternatives???

I was wondering if you had another suggestion for a powerhead. The Tunze Stream 6060 is a little pricy. I feel bad saying htat since I will do whatever necesary, but it doesn't hurt to ask?
