Sick anenome?
Hi everyone. I've been a member for a while but this is my first post. Enough information on the site to read for at least a month
![]() Anyways I have a long tentacle anenome that started acting strange about a week ago. I found him with mouth/tentacle side hidden below rock, and when I tried to move him his stalk was very stiff and elongated. I left him there for a day then moved him out into the open to see if he would respond to light or different current. He doesn't seem to be dead, and will still partially extend tentacles but does not completly stay open like he was before (been in the tank about 3 months). I tried to feed him a small piece of shrimp that is normally readily eaten, but my clown stole it from after a few minutes of it stilling on his base. Is this normal behaviour, or is something wrong with it? ![]() Im running a 55g tank with 260w pc, temp 81 nitrates 3ppm, nitrite, ammo 0 ph alk and calcium all stable. |

Hi pisomojado, Welcome to Reefland!
![]() It is hard to say for sure what could be wrong with your anemone without actually seen it or knowing more about your tank (How long have your tank been set up and that sort of thing). Water parameters you listed all sound pretty normal except that you forgot to mention your salinity. Are the tentacles feel sticky or not? Also, was it ever attached to anything? PS. I forgot to add that it is not normal behavior for anemone to be deflated for days at the time.
