full tank shot

Well I bought a tripod, figuring that would help my photography skills, and after about 100 shots this is the best I could do.. I'm still in awe of how you guys take such nice pictures. Anyway, what do you think? Tanks about 2 mos. old.
Thanks.

Thanks for the compliments!

do you guys think the placement of my frogspawns is ok? I'm worried about the tentacles (is that what you call them?) touching the surrounding rocks when they are expanded. Is that ok?

I think it is totally fine as long as it not touching any of the other corals. Looking at the picture it seems that it is far enough from anything else that you have in the tank.

Excellent picture and a great looking tank! I think your frogspawn has plenty of room just be sure to not put anything near it.

Get us a picture of those sun polyps when they open up!

Yeah, About that... I've had them for 2 days now. And they've yet to open up. I found a hitchiker crap on them yesterday and fw dipped it to get him out. hehe, Then i put him in "jail", this little compartment I have in my fuge . I figured i'd give him a chance. Anyway off track, is it normal for them to take a while to open up? I've read about people taking them into a separate container with lots of cyclop-eeze or whatever until the open up and eat... but I was kinda hoping they'd get hungry and open up in the main tank. They're in the shade, but havent opened up at all the past 2 nights.. normal?

These corals need to be spot fed. Some people can get theirs to feed just by putting food in the tank, others need to be more diligent and crafty to come up with specialized feeders. Cutting a 2-liter bottle and setting it over the coral and putting food in the top is one way...

I have never had this beautiful coral because I have never had the time to care for them. Hopefully someone else will jump in here with some ideas for you.

They will eat brine and mysis shrimp also. Scott hit it on the head, they do need alot of TLC. If you have any shrimp in the tank, it is almost impossible to get any food at all to them without some kind of feeder like Scott described. Good luck, they are a beautiful coral.
Give them a little time, they are probably still adjusting to their new setting. I have heard that you can almost get them to open if you get some food by them, kind of like the method you described!!

What I used to do when I kept it is to defrost some food and squeeze some juces out.Shut off all pumps( when lights are out) and with the turkey baster just gently blow some of those juces at the closed polyps, they would open without fail in a few minutes. I than proceeded to feed each polyp with some mysid shrimp and prime reef pieces. Tedious but worked well for me. Later, as they become used to this proceedure, they open during the light on period as well as soon as food hits the water. At night they would stay open all the time getting the food that floated by when I fed corals GP's and cyclop-eeze.

They are very beautiful coral but royal pain in the arse to care for in terms of time.

Thanks again for the advice and compliments

I tried the method of taking the coral into a separate container saturated with cyclopeeze and brine, but, I noticed a 2nd hitchiker crab in the rock. ridiculous, 2 in such a small peice of rock. Anyway, this one took a lot more convincing to get out and I think it really ticked off the sun polyps. I'll try again in a day or 2 after the coral has some time to relax.

Elmo - How did you go about squeezing out the juices? Did you just soak up the mysis in some water and suck up just the water and spray that?
