    Adding Det. kit

I have a quick question I added 45lbs of cured live rock that was only out of the water for 1 hr the tank was set up a week before adding lr to try to eliminate the sandstorm. It stated in prior postings that once everything equals 0 then you can add a det kit but I am wondering when I will see the ammonia spike because of the little time the lr was out of the water. Will I see much die off.

Was the rock completly out of water or did you have wet newspaper or something on it. It was only 1 hr so you might see some dieoff but not enough I would think to have enough effect on a amm. spike. But what size tank do you have anyway.....

    Adding Det kit

It was transported in 5 gallon buckets with wet newspaper and tank size is 75 gallon.

I don't think you will actually see the spike... That doesn't sound like enough time to cause a lot of die off...

sounds like what i was going through with my 45 gal tank I had to transport my rock from the LFS 45 mins away from my house. I would do a test in a few days just to see what it says. If your tank was just set up then you should be ok anyway because you have not hit the nitrite cycle yet
