do a.ocellaris need a host to spawn?

My 2 ocl seem mated, they at least sleep together each night, but they do spend time apart during the day. The one is only slightly bigger though. My questions is, they are not hosting in anything, and I was wondering if this will prevent them from spawning. I'd really like to give raising clowns a shot, but my tank isnt appropriate for the long term care of an anenome i've decided. And, they seem to not care too much about my frogspawns.

On a similar note, does over feeding, or feeding till they are no longer intrested in food 3x a day, lead to a better chance of spawning?

Thanks.

Clownfish do not need anemones to spawn.

clowns do not need a host to spawn but there are many other conditions that need to be met.

Over feeding them will NOT entice them to spawn. A good meaty nutrition will.

Also if there are other aggressive fish in the tank they will not spawn.

If the lighting cycles are not consistant and around 14 hours a day they will not spawn.

If They are NOT sexed or MATED they will not spawn.

There are many condition that need to be met before they spawn. Do the research first before you try. and good luck

Really 14 hours per day? I have a 150W mh without supplementation over a 26 and am worried that might be too much?

would either a flame hawk, 6-line, or royal gamma, be considered aggressive enough to prevent spawning? I only have have the flame hawk now and hes pretty much a wuss that hides in a cave. Was considering adding either the 6-line or royal gamma. Or possibly removing the flame and adding both.

The less fish they have the better.

Mine where in a tank with a 6 line, coral beauty and egineer goby and they still spawned all the time

I moved them into a tank with a royal gramma and bi-color blenny two months ago and they have not spawned since.

They are just getting comfortable in this new home. I had a few other fish added to their old home and they killed them. So now they live with those two.
