Tunze... WOW
Well I have had this for about a week now, and I can give it a healthy THUMBS UP!!! I bought the "little guy" a 6060, it moves 1600 GPH. I placed it in the front right corner of my tank and removed the 2 Hagen 402's that were there. This pump has another advantage, it consumes LESS power, 11 watts/hr versus 22 watts/hr for the 402's. SO that is 1/4 the power and almost 3 times the flow! Only thing I can complain about is the mounting system... Man does it StINK, I ordered the magnet mount and should have it this weekend.
Here is the BEST PART, it was FREE! Well not quite, but I traded some frags to a LFS for store credit and had enough to get the stream... I also bought a magnet scraper "Magnavore 4" that also works very well on my 135. So if anyone is even thinking about the Stream, GO FOR IT... Just be sure you have either a BB or a 6 ft tank! I am sure this pump would re-arrainge a DSB in a 4 ft tank pretty quickly... |

Agreed, they are excellent pumps!
About the DSB.... I have a 3" DSB in a 4.6 ft tank and I use two 6100s: no problems at all! You just have to be carefull with the placement of the pumps in relation to rocks. I'm sure I could place the pumps in a way that would blow all my sand away ![]() Also, new sand bed is much more "lighter" than established DSB. |
