since im new to the hobby i have way to many questions.


1. i have aot of purple spots on lr is this good and what is it?
2. near the purple spots are little purple plants are they good?
3. their are many little green fern type plants sprouting, good or no?
4. ive noticed lately a small starfish in the tank and a few feather dusters, is their any supplements i should add to help them?
5. i figure a few more weeks and i can add some fish to tank, are there any type of fish i should add first to help with tank?

They are coralline algae and they are good You should see them starting to grow on glasses too. You can read more about these important algae here: http://www.botany.uwc.ac.za/clines/

When live rock is still "fresh" many interesting and beautiful algae start to grow on it. Unfortunately they tend to disappear once you put herbivorous animals into the tank. Without picture it is impossible to identify them and to tell you the truth, it's many times impossible to ID them even with picture

The starfish doesn't need any feeding but the feather dusters do grow better if you feed the tank with phyto- and zooplankton. However, since your tank is so young I wouldn't recommend feeding them just yet.

Generally new tank needs at least some algae eating animals. Your tank is too small for most tangs but for example Salarias fasciatus might be a good choice. You should also get some snails and maybe even a small sea urchin to help to keep the algae down.
