Hammer Frag.
Hi everyone ! I`m a newbie here with a question that hopefully someone will be able to answer. I have a branching hammer coral which suffered a fall in my reef tank. As a result, one of the branches broke off. I was surprised to see a small frag. that I hadn`t noticed come loose. It`s actually the size of a marble when fully open. It seemes to have a cone shaped base. My question is this. How can I get it to attach to a rock ? Right now, I have it in it`s own hanging plastic container inside the tank. I tried putting it in a crevice of a small rock for a week or two but no go, it didn`t attach . Not sure if glue will even hold this thing, it naturally turns to a very small blob of mush when I try to position it into the rock crevice. Too small to leave in the main tank, the current will take it for a ride if not attached to a rock. Thoughts anyone ?? I would like to save it.

Hey Butch... Welcome to Reefland!
I don't think a Hammer coral will EVER attach, the base of that coral is pretty much dead, at least mine looks that way. I would suggect using CA (Crazy Glue)to attach it to whatever rock you want. Mine grew insanely large very fast, make sure you leave plenty of room! |
