Refractometer

Just got my Refractometer in the mail today and tried it out for the first time against my Hydrometer.

Hydrometer = 1.024

Refractometer = 1.027

Quite a bit of difference. Glad I bought one easy to use, highly recommend everyone to get one

Refractometer = 1.022

Scott:

There are a few sellers on Ebay that offer refractometers on a fairly regular basis for around $40. Do you have experience/opinions on the Ebay units?

Chuck,

For what its worth, I bought one from the premiumaquatics for not much more than that and it is an exellent piece of equipment. It comes with calibration fluid and is one of the best out there, very rugged and built tough. Plus it is one of our sponsors and I trust their reviews.

FYI - that calibration fluid is just distilled water.

I have no experience with the ebay seller; I got mine through North Coast Marines, one of our sponsors. Cost was $50 shipped.

The interesting thing about the inaccuracy of the hydromters is that despite the actual readings - you have a very healthy tank.

I wonder if it's simply a case of your tank inhabitants adjusting to a lower salinity over time.

Send a message via MSN to Samper
I think your right Chuck but at any rate I wanna keep my system as close to NSW as possible even though it may work out nicely either way. I use my refractometer quite a bit.
