free reef

i knew that would get you in here.mom wants a reef ,so i get to build one and not pay this time.how cool is that!
we decided on an aga 65g,mh,pc or vho?dsb, not sure cal reactor or additives, big sump, refigium so maybe skimmerless.
if anyone has something similar to this i would like to hear about it,and any suggestions are great as well!
THANKS CHAD

MH i'd say.....nice big tank like that you could have plenty of sps w/ a halide system. it all depends on what you want to keep in the tank. if you dont want sps i'm sure you could get by with pc's or vho's. let us know im sure many are going to say mix it up....mh for day time and pc's for actinics....alot of people do this. good luck and keep us posted.

if this tank is being built for some one who is not "into" reefing but instead likes the pretty colors and fish id say you need to automate as much as possible, ca reactor, large top off resovior, refugium along with the essentials live dsb live rock protien skimmer.i suggest both a refugium and skimmer to be as fool proof as possible(at least until the tank is very well established) and by all means it would be best if you got mom a simple reef book such as the captive reef(riddle) or the reef tank owners manual (tullock)or maybe beginner to breeder(moe)these are all simple enjoyable reads nothing too textbookish hth
