Which coral is colorful and easy to keep?
I have a 125 Gallon tank with 100+ lbs of live rock. It seems to look pretty drab and I was thinking of adding a colorful coral that was easy to keep if there was such a thing. I have been happy with the results of my FOWLR tank and want to push my luck. I have 3 250 watt metal halides and two actinic bulbs. I usually just run the actinics because I have no need to run the metal halides. I don't wan't to add any more equipment just yet. I do have a camel shrimp which I understand will limit my possibilities or make it impossible. I also have a serpent starfish as well. I don't think that any of my other inhabitants are going to have an impact on the corals although I am getting a foxface next week. Any help would be appreciated.

Porites and Montipora species of stony corals are pretty easy to keep provided you maintain good water quality, calcium and alkalinity levels.

I saw the following passage on a website for corals. Is this true for this type of coral because it looks really cool. I don't want to get it though if the advertisement is misleading.
Corals on this page are all hardy and very easy to keep. They do well under any types of fluorescent lighting and adapt to low, moderate, or intense lighting. These corals are perfect for beginners or advanced hobbyists!! Bright Green center Favia Brain |

The Favia family of corals can be considered easy. I would not keep them under normal output lighting though. They will do fine under VHO or PC lighting. They keep their color very well. The down side is that most angels, butterflyfish, and even some tangs will nip or eat this type coral.

The only questionable tankmates may be a foxface and the camel shrimp. I am not even sure on those ones. I have the metal halides and actinic bulbs.
