Changing my current tank
Hi all. I have just had a premonition for the past couple of days of changing my now SPS tank to an anemone tank...especially for Rose Anemones.
I am thinking of getting rid of the SPS for now and concentrate on making my clownfish happy and breeding them. What do you all think? I really do like SPS, but I may want to head another direction for now. Thanks, Ilham

Hi Ilham,
Although I'm a SPS fan a little I think that would be a great plan. It should provide hours of interesting observations, enjoyment, and challenges. After all isn't that what a hobby is all about. You know plenty of people that will help you easily return to SPS if and when you feel like it but for now I would strongly recommend you follow what interests you now.Regards, Kevin

Kevin, thank you for your suggestions and comments. I am deciding this not because I don't like keeping SPS, and yes they do provide challenges and nice colors to look at, but for the well-being and naturalness (is that a word? lol) for my GSM clowns. I will take out the pair of orange skunks, as well, and dedicate this tank only for Rose anemones and the GSMs.
I am planning to redesign the tank next week, as I am getting the new 15k XM 250 watt bulb. I will try to scrub the rock off any corallimorph and zoos and just hopefully have Rose Anemones in there. I think it is very unnatural for my spawning GSM's to have so little space and have SPS up their face, literally. In the future, when I get a bigger tank and possibly move I will start at SPS again. I will piece out my corals as soon as I have trades or a source at Rose Anemones. I'm NOT looking for the ones that are from the South China Sea(ones with green base near at/near the mouth), but rather the Orange/Red Variants. If you are in the Washington State area..and have some nice roses...PM me please. Thank you, Ilham

Hi Ilham,
I'll be happy to provide you with a couple of clones, just let me get my head together and granddaughter back on her feet and I will send you a couple. I think it should be pretty easy with a good weather approaching fast. I will call a friend of mine to come over and help me out with getting couple of them out of the tank and he'll ship them as well if I can't make it myself. PM me your address again too. I'm happy to hear that you want to try your hand at RBTA's, I think they are the easiest to keep of all the anemones.

Elmo,
YES!!! DO IT ABSOLUTELY!! Do what gives you passion in this hobby... You're obviously having so much success with your clown pairs. I think it would be fascinating. As Kevin said, if you want to get into SPS again, there are people here who will hook you up. Think of all the cool new threads you can start once you do set up the tank! ![]() |
