6 Months Later..UPDATE
I must thank Reefland members for their excellent advice. I have now been in the hobby for 6 months and certainly consider myself an official Reef Keeper. I still only have my 35G reef tank however, it's doing amazing and I'd like to post an update. Within the next months (summer) i will be updating my lighting to MH's. Will I need a cooler for a 35G if I have a MH's? Heres my REEF! Enjoy

Very Nice...
Remember that LPS and Softies are not big fans of intense lighting. Also Sea whips don't like the real intense lighting, so you will have to build some shaded areas and ease the LPS into the lighting slowly.
You will at the very least need to vent the cabinet very well in order to prevent high heat build up. I would make sure the lights are at least 10 inches above the water and at least (2) 4" fans in the sides of the cabinet blowing in, and (2) 4" fans on the top blowing out, and an open back for lots of air flow. I just have PC, but I have noticed a 6 degree temp drop by adding fans to my hood. Normally my temps would hit 85 during the day, now they never go above 78.9. Of course I'm using fans from an old Compaq Server, 120CFM 4" fan and a 275CFM 5" fan. I'm moving some air, but noisy as all.

Very nice tank!
Why the upgrade to MH? It looks like your corals are doing really well in your current scheme. Rebecca |

Keep in mind that clowns don't always take to a anenome, and that some anenomes can be harmful to your other fish and corals. My false perculas took to a Tree Leather and are very happy, they are currently on their third spawning this year. check it outWe have eggs!!

Looking good Spick! If you wanted to add MH I'd say go for it. You should be able to get away with just fans as long as the top remains open.

Thats correct. The key is to make sure a good amount of air and enter and exit under the lights which will also ensure evaporation isn't slowed by a totally enclosed top.
