Question Cycle

Has anyone ever use a product called Cycle? It is made by Nutrafin & is suppose to help cycle new tanks rapidly by releasing large amouts of good bacteria. I'm kind of on the fence with this stuff, but my LFS says it very safe & works great.

Hi homeangler,

There is no need at all to add a "cycling" product. The only thing you need to cycle your tank is patience and something that provides a start for the bacteria colonies; liverock works the best. How long has your tank been set up and what do you currently have in it?

Hi, thanks for the quick responce, I have L/R about 160lbs & has been cycling for 5 weeks. I just put in my first fish juv. Emporor also some turbo snails & hermit crabs about a week ago. I dicieded to do a major water change ( 40gal, i have a 155gal.tank) & my LFS told me I would need to add this Cycle stuff because of the lost of good bacteria with the W/C ( tank was cloudy & i am trying to replace original tap water with RO/DI water. everything seems to be doing fine after the water change & fish is great, so far....

Hello, waiting 5 weeks for your tank to cycle is very good . Watch your nitrates and nitrites close because i've heard that emporor angels need perfect (0) nitrates and nitrites to be happy for long.
