In comparison to other SPS corals, the Montipora sp. are very hardy and have quick growth rates. They should be kept under intense lighting with lots of water flow. Like other SPS corals, they also require nutrient poor systems although they can tolerate levels slightly higher than Acropora sp. With good lighting, low nutrients and plenty of flow, give this guy plenty of room to grow.

Hard to say without knowing how other corals fair in your system. Given the right environment, I'd say it could grow to 6" in 6 months. Typically thought it takes SPS corals a little adjustment time before growth spurts occur.

    Smile

all the corals I have so far (zoos, merulina, open brain, elegance, and goniopora)
are doing great. I'm going to try and get some pics out soon. I was thinking of adding the montipora to build some depth to the rockscape if you know what I mean and get like a ledge look growing.

My montipora capicornus did not need intense light i had 4 65watt pc's over a 75 gallon and the growth was intense, they like good flow like a wavemaker, i have orange, and green with purple rim and pink (rare) here's some shots.

Mine started slowly, then POW!!! Monti's can grow 1/4" a WEEK! So give it LOTS AND LOTS of room... Mine have always been under halides, and I feed Cyclop-eeze so that may be a contributing factor!
