Strange creature! what is it? |

A strange worm like creature has appeared out of my live rock!
It is about 1/2" long and looks like....???? well a penis!!!!! it is quite see through and moves around with no apparent opening at the end! Any ideas??? |

Since you say "see through" you may be describing some sort of nudibranch or flatworm.

it is more opaque than see through and you can see a pinkish/purple inside at the tip. it is coming out of a hole in the live rock.
Actually now I think about it, it looks like a single ANEMONE tentacle sticking out of the rock!!!! I dont have an anemone??? is this possible? Last edited by zec01; 06-01-2005 at 04:40 AM. |

Just cause you didn't BUY an anemone doesn't mean you don't have 1 or 2 or 100! Aiptasia anemones are notorious hitch hikers and can multiply like CRAZY! It sounds to me like a tube worm though... It has made its home in the rock, and uses that sweeper to find food, at one point I had lots, them my Copperband butterfly ate them all...

it has now retracted into the rock and has about 1mm showing, so a pic would be useless!
i think it looks as if it is some sort of worm! |
