Question How to catch an eel

Hi Reeflanders

My 7 inch snowflake eels has gotten out of his refugium home and into my reeftank... Seems it likes the coral reef better to its algae forest...

I have a fish trap, but it wont go for non-live foods.. Only eats guppies and ghost shrimp.. hmmm.. lucky my red lysamatas are more than a mouthful for it.

How can I entice the little sod out so I can move it back to the fuge.. I want to add some small gobies I have in the fuge that were meant for the reef

just starve him for a week and the put a gold fish in the trap and enclose him in there. you might not even need the trap. if he gets hungry enough he will start swimming around then you can just net him.

caught the eel

Thanks for the advice.. tried it with a guppy - it didnt work.

What did? Well I was watch the TV and saw the eel getting about the tank.. He crawled into a hole in a piece of live rock. I jumped up and plugged both ends of the hole with my hands and pulled the rock out.. knocked down a third of the reef at the same time - not a good thing to do - but I was fed up with this eel and wanted it out . I hung the rock over the fuge tank and it took 1/2 an hour, but it came out and went it...

It seems ok now, but initially you could see it missed the big reef
