My tank just passed the one year mark. There are a few things I wish I'd done differently (aren't there always?) but overall I'm pleased with how it's come along.

Looks great! Nice looking Favia sp. you have on the bottom right corner.

Thanks. That's my newest addition.

Looking really nice, Penguin. I have to compliment you as well on taking care and not allowing your green star polyps any contact with the reef structure, those buggers can make your reef tank all green in the heart beat.
Also, if I may add a suggestion as far as photography goes, when using flash try tilting your cam just a tad to eliminate that glare on the glass. It worked wonders for me when I do use flash( I really hate using it when taking pix of the tank).
Kind regards,
Gene.

Yeah that rock actually used to have some zoanthids on it, with just a tiny unseen bit of GSP. Now 8 months later the GSP have completely taken over that rock.I have to compliment you as well on taking care and not allowing your green star polyps any contact with the reef structure, those buggers can make your reef tank all green in the heart beat.![]()
Thanks Gene. Any tips for improvement are appreciated. My camera is a fairly cheap Fuji point-and-shoot and really struggles to get decent tank pics. It doesn't offer much in the way of manual settings, so I'm pretty much stuck with using the flash for most shots.when using flash try tilting your cam just a tad to eliminate that glare on the glass.

Great looking.
You tank is looking good. Is that the montipora digitata in front of the overflow the one you got from me? If so, I'm jealous because it has grown much more than mine.
I'll second the motion to keep the GSPs isolated. I had some in my old tank and constantly fought to keep them away from valued corals. They can overgrow just about anything, including hydnophora.
Yes, that's the one Doug. In fact I had to frag it a couple months ago, as it had a brief run in with a mushroom and started to RTN at the base. The colony on the far left is the main piece, but I also have two other large frags of it one of which you can see between the purple digitata and the yellow scroll. The purple and the blue polyp digitata grow like mad in my tank, but the orange grows much more slowly.

Very nice! Great growth for 1 year.
