Question clowns

what are the significant signs that colwnfish are ready to spawn? my two largest clowns have changed in their feeding and demeanor? should i get a breeding tank ready or wait until they have spawned? or can i just leave the larve in my main tank, or will my other fish become predatory torwards the larve?

How many clownfish do you have in your tank?

What species are they? Did you purchase a mature breeding pair? Since your tank is only about three months old, it is not likely that you have a mature mated pair at this point unless you purchased them as such. Have you observed courtship behavior of any kind? Have you observed the female clearing off a spot to lay the eggs?

The larvae will not survive after hatching unless they (the larvae) are in a separate tank all by themselves. You can remove the eggs (assuming they have been laid on something that makes that convenient) just before hatching to the separate tank (i.e., 10-gal) or you can attempt to siphon out the larvae immediately after hatching.

A good book to purchase that covers all of this is Joyce Wilkerson's Clownfishes.

HEHEHE.... They look pretty young to me, are they old enough to be dating?

In all reality, they will "do a little dance... Make a little love... get down tonight..." They will be become VERY protective of their anemone, they will probably kill the 3rd clown, and they will shake and shimmy... I would just watch and wait at this point, I have had my pair for 4-5 years and have never seen eggs, maybe you will gte lucky.
