My Brain Coral
I have a 30gal oceanic cube set up, and that has a 150w mh about 8" above the water. I have a brain coral sitting at the bottom of the tank, and its looking kind of pale(bleached)...so im getting a little nervous. Any suggestions would be great. thanks

Do you feed it? A brain coral will accept small pieces of krill, shrimp, etc. and would most likely reposnd positively to the feedings.

Aside from feeding to help it out, is it in direct lite? Maybe you could move it to a spot where it gets indirect lite.

With your setup lighting, either too much or too little, should not be an issue. Water parameters could be responsible. Shipping and/or handling stress could also be the reason. How long have you had it, and what did it look like when you got it?

to tell you the truth, i have no idea what kind of brain it is, and i just feed the whole tank phytoplan every other day, and i was told that i could also feed it a little peice of prime reef, but i have yet to give that a try. And the brain is all the way the the bottom of the tank, but it has no shade from the 150w mh. The only problem is i cant really move it around becuase i dont have much room on the sand bed.

Most corals including Brain corals do not eat phytoplankton but are carnivores meaning they eat meaty foods like zooplankton. They can eat pieces up to the size of a pencil eraser.
