new addition?

Have been running my tank for about a year now. Started with the typical fish only and now running a reef with both hard (bubble & sun) and soft corals (mushrooms, leathers and some zoos) Also some inverts- shrimp, hermits, dusters and sponge. Presently have 4 clown gobies (2 yellow/2 green--very small) 2 false percula clowns, Rainford & Orange spotted goby, a fairy wrasse (Carpenter?) My red slime algae seems to have vanished from the tank and all seems well except I am getting hair algae---primarliy on the lava rock I had added early in the tank set up---which has also not developed any coraline algae. Thinking about adding an algae blenny but there seems to be some references to it being territorial as it gets older. Once I add a fish it will be nearly impossible to get it out--unless I dismantle the tank---so I would like some advice on this one. Snails and hermits seem to take care of any other algae in the tank. I realize I will have to feed the blenny green food once the hair algae is depleted. Also I have some macro algae in the tank (caulpera) which I am guessing will have to be moved out of the tank or is likely to be blenny food also. Question is -- will blenny take care of the hair algae--and will it become territorial as it gets larger.

How big is the tank? It sounds like it is pretty full already.

The fish you refer too usually do a good job at controlling hair algae. What is the size of your tank?

It is pretty full...only a 50 gallon. So many fish (and other things) so little space....(sigh)

I would say you are maxed out for Bio Load, unless you have a VERY VERY large filtration system/Sump that adds substantial volume to the tank.

I think putting another blenny in a tank that size will definately cause conflicts too!
