stn rtn I don't freakin know
The 75g I bought had two pieces of Montipora digitata in it. Me being the Genius that I am figured that they would be much happier in my sps tank since the guy had the frags for 2 years and all they managed to do was encrust a little. I figured the softies/lps were stunting their growth. I didn't quarantine since they were in the other system for so long. The green montipora was encrusted and I wasn't able to break it so it's still alive and well in the 75g. The brown/purple base had about a 1" stick poking up so I broke it off and put it in my nano. Before I knew it all tissue was lost from the encrusted growth in the 75 and from the stick in the nano. 1 day later my chips acro which was closest to the new frag lost all tissue as well as a small piece of birdsnest that was broken off months ago. Now my ORA tricolor and another unidentified acropora appear to be turning white but not losing tissue yet. Now the problem is radiating outward but only affecting certain corals all of which are acroporas at this point in time. All of my montiporas are fine, my birdsnest is fine, my unidentified wild colony which is an acropora I think, is fine. I've performed an extra 5 gallon water change this week but don't think it's gonna help. All water parameters that I test for are in check. I'm glad this system got some recognition when it did cause it may not be very beautiful much longer. What do I need to do guys?

Yikes Chuck!
That really stinks! Any chance of a contaminent getting in the tank? Something on your hands or sprayed near the tank? I would continue with the water changes and also put in fresh carbon... Like a bandaid for a bullet hole... ![]() |

I really think that me breaking that montipora started this whole problem but don't know how or why. Nothing has been sprayed near it and I wash up surgery style before messin around. I've been away for two days and haven't checked it out this morning yet but will update in a bit.
The params as of today SG 1.026 Alk 11 dkH Ca - 430 ppm Temp 82 pH 8.23 NO3 – 0 Phosphate - 0

No....the temp here has been very hot and humid lately and I've been having trouble keeping the temp in the display below 85 during the day. I had to crank the fan up which made more evaporation/top off. Maybe this has caused it. The weird thing is the montipora that came from the 75 died. The base that was encrusted in the 75 died as well as the frag I put in the nano. I'm leaning towards this causing the event but can't be sure. No other montiporas were affected only the acroporas and not all of them. Very frustrating
