Possibly oils or something on your hands is causing it to go crazy. Try washing up real good and cleaning the skimmer thoroughly before putting it back in action and see if that helps.
Hi,
I do a 10% water change once a week and this is usally a time when i clean my collection cup. I also change the filter pad at this time.
When this is done and I plug the skimmer (Nautilus TE) back in it goes crazy producing white foam. WHY? it doesn't do it for very long and I've learned to just let it go and settle out. It usually fills up the cup with an inch of seemingly clean water. Anyone experience this? Anyone know why it happens?
Thanks, Mike

Mine does the same, it is part of the design. I have the EX version though. WHen I first start the skimmer there is very little back pressure on the pump, as the chamber fills the pressure increases, resulting in less flow. I think the cause is just an empty chamber, once it fills it is no longer an issue.
Oh and here I thought I was helping. Sometimes if I'm having a DOH moment and don't wash my hands my skimmers will go crazy for a few minutes.
