leather

hey all hope you can give me a little input , my leather dont seem to be doing that well it is not standing tall like he does any other day and he has like white stuff coming off him is he poss just cycling or is the poor thing dying off ,
any info well help dont want to lose it!!!!!!!!!!! this is a old pic before he started doing it if anyone needs a new pic i can get one

Hello,
Leather corals like the one you have go through periods of regeneration and sloughing off of the surface layer of tissue. This is perfectly normal. A current picture of the coral would be helpful. If the tissue is turning black or dark brown then action needs to taken quickly as the necrosis can spread to other parts of the coral rapidly.

thank you i will get a pic of it and post it did have some dark brown on the top but most of the white was of the sides it does seem to be doing better today no spots some flaking still but i always panic , my other leather cycles sometimes but not like that . thank you again for your quick reponse

In the last picture the coral looks fine to me.
The action I was referring to regards cutting the dying tissue away using a new razor blade or other very sharp instrument. A less aggressive method involves using a iodine based coral dip like “Coral Dip” by Seachem.
