diplay water flow question??

hey everyone. i have been thinking about adding a DIY streammer bar. this is my idea. i want to use a 2.5 foot PVC pipe capped drill some holes ever 3inches or so and put a 1/4 diameter or smaller, 2" long tube in each hole (need to test it out and tinker with it to fiqure the right diameter). use a 300gph powerhead to push the water flow. i want to make 2 of these about 2.5 feet long each.(the tank is 6feet) i want to put it on the bottom back of the display tank behind the rock work and bury it in the sand with about 1" of the small tubes sticking out every 3" or so pointing straight up. will have other power heads with in the display but want a way to create good flow on the sand bed under the rock. the inflow from the sump return is (via 2 pumps) pointing level with the surface faceing toward the front of the tank and into eachother. my thinking this will cause the the in flow to get sucked down and through the rock work to the back. any thoughts??

Since this setup will be in the bottom of the tank which from the sounds of it will be hard to access and maintain I would try and make it simple as possible. I like the idea and its very cheap costing but the outlet extensions on the spray bar sound like their purpose is to aim at key points to eliminate dead spots, however I believe this spraybar with the extensions will prove to be more hassle than a standard spraybar w/out extensions. In short I think the extensions will cause more head/restrictions and being that close to the bottom you may get more debris to get caught up into the extensions. I probably would opt for the standard spraybar on the PH w/out the extensions, and if you spend more time drilling your holes at the right angle then you can still accomplish the same thing w/out the extensions.
