ive been curing live rock for about 2 weeks now and went out of town for a few days and asked my dad to do a 50% water change. anyways when i got back the specific gravity was at 1.027 any way could this kill the live rock its been like this for about a week.

Hi Austin,

I think your rock should be just fine. Do a water change to adjust your salinity. My 110g anemone tank had been at sp.gravity of 1.027 for a month due to a faulty refractometer and neither fish or anemones showed any problems. I think it all depends what your sp.gravity was before the increase.Mine was always kept at 1.026 so the rise wasn't all that big.

1.027 is a bit on the higher side but shouldn't cause any problems, unless it was quickly raised to that level from 1.023 or lower. Slowly reduce the salinity back to 1.025-1.026 and all is well.
