Unhappy Brain coral going down hill

I have a open brain coral that I've had for over five years now and it not doing so well. I have tested all my water parameters and it all test ok. I do not understand why this is happening unless it got stung some how! The weird thing is that there is not another coral next to it! The only thing I can think of is that my monster carpet has came close enough to it when it is fully open to cause some kind of chemical warfare! I would of thought I would of had more problems with my blue mille than my open brain witch are the only two in close distance to my carpet! Yes I think it a gonner, he is lossing tissue that i noticed today.

    Hi Martin,
Sorry to hear you are having problems with your long time coral. I would recommend moving it to another tank to see if it will recover. If it does then move it back and see if it declines. A coral does not have to be near another to be chemically affected, anywhere in the tank will do. Running carbon may help.

If you already have not gotten rid of it, you might want to hold onto the skeleton for a little while. There are some cases of anthocauli-like reproduction after an apparent death.
