Need help!!
As you can all tell I am new here. I have had my reef tank up for about 5 years now and everything is so overgrown that the tips of my leathers are actually out of the water most of the day. I have mostly soft corals and a few stoneys. My problem is that I recently added a new stain of clurpa to my refegium and it came with some type of "Flat worm" for lack of better term. I started noticing them in my refegium and I got as may of them out as I could. After about a month of constantly scrapping them off the glass they disappeared. They were gone for a long time and I did not pay anymore attention to them. Just recently they have spread like wild fire through out my main tank. They are all over everything glass, rocks, sand, corals, and even hitching rides on my snails and hermits. They do not seem to be bothering anything and I have been fighting them for at least 5 months now. Nothing seems to be effected by these “Flat worms” they are just unsightly and all over the place. They look like small square pieces of red wax. They are tiny, red and see through. I have asked the local pet store in my area and only one had any ideas. I bought a potion to kill these suckers and I think it made them multiply. So I am at wits end. I bought a 16gal nano reef tank and am transplanting my prize corals and mated pair of perculas. If any one know what these things are and how to rid my system of them please please PLEASE let me know.

Hi Aquanox! Welcome to Reefland!
When you said "potion" did you mean Flatworm Exit by salifert? That is the only "cure" I know for these. Some people have reported success with 6 line wrasse, and Orchid Dotibacks, but you have quite the infestation there. I would recommend another dose of the exit! |

Thanks guys at least this is a start. I will get a sixline this weekend and if my killer clowns dont eat him before he eats the flatworms I will be ok. I have a mated pair of Percs that will attack any new fish in my tank. Mean lil suckers ..LOL
