what exactly is a extremly extremly high KH? how are you measuring?
what exactly is an amazing calcium level? need numbers here with correct units of measurement to answer. dont think anyone can answer this unless they know what the numbers are. can you give all your tank levels so we can better answer the question??
Calcium-500, pH-8.1, ammonia-0, nitrate-0, nitrite-0, KH-70 before multiplying it by 10.
That can't be right, are you following all the instructions for the test? What kind of test kit are you using?
no i think its right. kh of 70 or less is the breaking point for ph crash. but for reef tanks or even FO salt tanks we really dont use that measurement. we go by alkalinity in meq/l or kh in dkh. I don't know anyone on the boards and few in the hobby who still use the milliequivalents/liter measure - that is for chemists. There are 17.86 mg/l CaCO3 per degree KH. Calcium carbonate is the standard for reference of this and for GH tests. just call it KH and give the dkh so we all know what you are talking about. 1 milliequivalent/liter = 2.8 dKH = 50 ppm
