Where to get?

As some of you know I am in the process of starting my new tank (96x30x30) it should be here in the next two weeks (I HOPE!) and I was woundering where I can get some nice flat shelf rock (Kalinei) (sp?) I know Ninong ordered some when he set his tank up but I could not find that old thread.

Thanks,
Martin

I ordered fully cured Kaelini from a vendor in South Carolina who is no longer in business.

Kaelini is from Tonga. The name is Walt Smith's daughter's name in the Tongan language. Almost all live rock in the hobby comes from Walt Smith.

Some of the pieces of Kaelini live rock that I received were absolutely stunning but I believe they had been curing for a few months when I purchased them. They had a lot of coralline algae and lots of pods.

I ordered Kaelini, Tonga branch and Buna branch (Fiji). I hated the Buna branch but I loved the other two.

If I were setting up a new tank of that size (375 gallons), I would probably go with a mixture of Kaelini and Tonga show branch (larger pieces). I might even order it uncured if I were in the mood. It all depends.

Check out the Reefland sponsors to see what they offer. Prices for transshipped rock through L.A. are pretty much the same everywhere. Also, check with Kevinpo to see what he says.

Rocky,

He's thinking of the Kaelini rock that I got a couple of years ago. Some of it was very flat and some of it was not. It was a great mixture. I posted a lot of pictures in a tank setup thread, remember?

Here are a couple of pictures taken when my tank was about two or three months old:
