Depends on what you want more. Fish or corals. Most dwarf angels will be nippy at LPS like brains and clams. Flame angels don't nip at SPS as far as I know. I'm sure there are exceptions but I believe the majority will be a threat to clams and brains. I just added a flame angel to my reef with brain coral, bubble coral, torch coral, maxima clam, SPS, Softies, and shrooms. I'm gonna keep a close watch over him and the tank.

Like I said, you have to decide which is more important.

coralman,
Really tough decision isn't it? I have been in the same boat for a long time, really want a coral beauty, the lfs I work at p/t had a Fiji Coral Beauty last weekend I wanted it so bad!!!! But since I have lots of SPS frags and clams I just couldn't do it cause I would never get it out of my tank no matter how hard I tried. Best case most people tell me is it is a 50/50 gamble and I always lose at Tunica so not chancing it.

I wouldn't risk it, of course that is from experience from before. I had an eblii angel at one time in a 29g reef, it was fine. I then proceeded with a bi-color angel after the eblii perished. Bi-color slowly picked and snacked. Was live rock from the LFS, ended up being base rock, ouch. Now, I have FOWLR tank and ROWLR tank and keep them separated. Saves me worries of what ifs.

Coralman, I would not risk it either! My flame back angel just started nipping at one of my toadstool leathers and feather dusters and they will not open anymore. The pygmy angels are my favorite type of fish, but they can cause a lot of problems in a reef tank.
