I do apologize for not being on the board more, but I have been trying to get my own tank up and running. It is finally running and is cycled (even had the LFS confirm the water tests). Yesterday we went and got 2 anemonie crabs, 3 margarita snails, and 3 blue leg hermits. Forgot to mention that the LFS said that my nitrates were a little on the high side of normal and pH was a little low. Because of the new additions I have had a minor ammonia spike, but will be doing a water change out tomorrow with the intent of adding more snails and crabs on Friday.
The snails have moved around like crazy and have figured out that a majority of the food is on the live rocks that I had purchased. I do think we lost one of our hermits today, though. Only two of the three shells is moving and I caught one of them switching shells today. Dh will be teaching me how to post pictures onto our local clubs' forum Friday evening, so will hopefully be able to post the link to the pics. BTW-I know I have some pods in the tank because I see these little white critters crawling around on the glass--either that or it is from the phyto that I have put into the tank. I will continue to try to drop in from time to time. At this point I feel like I am doing a lot of catchup. I'm still trying to wade through the book on natural reefs that I am reading. Getting kind of bogged down in the chemistry area as chemistry was never a very strong subject for me. It is beginning to give me a major headache. Anne |

Dont sweat it
I had the same little white critters when I set my tank up a few months back. Although I dont know exactly what they are or where they came from, I dont think they do any harm. In fact my blue leg crabs seem to enjoy munching on them. My six line wrath seemed to like them as well. They were so popular in fact that after a couple of weeks, there is no sign of them.
Dont let the chemistry get to you. My advice. Focus on the basics. Regular water changes, dont overfeed, good circulation, good protein skimmer. Quote:
