Need some advise (Nano cube in progress)
Hello all I am setting up a 10 gallon Hex saltwater (nano) for the wife in the kitchen I am using the CPR bak pak 2 filter skimmer combo that is working great. I have about a 3 inch sand bed with about 15lbs of LR in there. My question is what type of light should i get for the tank it's going to be a zoo, and softie tank only things like that. There is a 12inch NO bulb on there now will that work or do i need some thing stronger. I dont have that much room since i want to keep the lid on it and the space for the light is only 12Lx3W.

I wouldn't recommend a NO for any tank that is going to contain any corals. I would find a small PC fixture (and they make them small these days) at least.

I've seen 12" models (like Jalli or Current-USA). Problem is that they usually have 18 or 24W bulbs. They are used on refugiums primarily. I would be interested in seeing some higher wattage ones for smaller tanks.

I found a few smaller lights, but I think they may be too wide... but it's a start! Maybe you could squeze 'em in? Good Luck!

If you want lots of light, check out IceCaps mini-pendant. It is available in a 70-watt version. The bulbs look like a normal outdoor floodlamp with a screw-in base, but inside is a halide bulb. The bulbs are available in 6.5k and 20k. With one of these, you could keep just about anything. Definitely overkill for zooanthids, but I thought I would throw it out there.
