    Marine Snow

Ok I really have several questions and I feel like asking them in their own post is best for other people like me.

How often should Marine Snow be used? On the bottle it says daily is that too much or is it a matter of opinion like most everything else? I just want to do what is best for my tank.

I personally would never use Marine Snow, but thats just me. There have been past studies showing that it consist of 99% water....so what exactly are you paying for that so valuable at 1%? My thoughts if you dont understand it why would you put it in your tank? If your dead set on using it then I would follow the bottles directions. Just my .02 cents

Is there anything that I can use to help the tank or in your opinion is it best left alone?

I personally am not familiar too with Marine Snow or it's contents - but have heard about it. But the little I know (unless you have a product I am way off on) is that it is a plankton reef food.

With that said, I go in and offer some of the DT's Live Marine Phytoplankton. My corals just 'swell' right up and soak it in.

I guess that would depend on the status of your tank....If you fill out your profile that will tell us more about your tank fish2reef So any time you ask someone a question that is one of the first places I look to find information is the persons profile. Have you done any test on your tank? Like Ammonia, Nitrate, Nitrite? PH, Temps, SG? How long has your tank been setup? How much liverock do you have? What corals and/or fish do you have in there? How many gallons is your tank? what kind of skimmer do you use if any? Do you use tap water or filtered water? So you see your question deserves an answer that only first must be questioned

OK I filled out the profile as best as I could. I did SOME testing when the tank first went up to know when to do a water change the first few times but then started letting the LFS do it since its free and I feel better knowing they are doing it correctly. My 90 gallon has been set up since May and the only thing in the tank for six weeks was water and rock. After that when testing was right I added the clean up crew and then the bicolor blenny waited a few weeks added another fish, ETc.. I added the corals from a smaller tank I had set up in August and all has been well with those and the new ones added. I use filtered water for top offs and premixed saltwater from LFS for changes.
