Does Anyone Have Pendant MH Photos?
I'm working on the re-re-redesign of my reef tank. I've painted the back, removed external filters, placed the heater in the skimmer, and I'm working a less techno-geek, more sleek look for the set-up, as it sits in a family home theater room.
I have a 60 gallon tank which would be overwhelmed by a 12" high metal halide hood. Would you please post photos you may have of MH pendant lighting over a reef tank? I'm not so much concerned with the details of the lighting, (thus I didn't post this under "Lighting,") but more in the esthetics of my tank in its surroundings. OK, OK! I'm lying! My wife said she won't let me build something that looks like a mausoleum, so I'm thinking pendants might be the way to go if they look fancy enough. Please post some pics. |

I have a pic on my site but it's on the FOWLR tank . It will give you an Idea anyway.
The one thing with the pendants is that you have to hang em low enough so that the light doesn't blind you and the whole room . I hang mine about 2 inches above the water so that the light doesn't bother me when I sit in the room, I mean couch'n ! ![]() http://community.webtv.net/MarkPelsk...LTWATERAQUARIA I ran the cords into the attic and have the ballasts in the attic, keeps the heat where it belongs This way there are no cords hanging around. Also because of the ac duct above the tank I had to install the pvc spacer between the pendants.Good luck with the wife !!!!! ![]()

FISHme, thanks for the photo. Any problems with heat build up having them that low? Do those pendants accept 250 watt bulbs? That's the look that I'm after.

Reinhold,
I run a chiller and have it set on 80 so it doesn't matter to me if it heats the water a little. Also , you can see the AC duct in the photo, that is directed to the tank and I pretty much run the AC 24/7/365. I don't know if they can hold the 250 watt bulb but I imagine the ballast would have to be different. Maybe someone else knows if that is possible to do because possibly someday I may set up this tank as a reef and have to upgrade and if it possible to just change the ballasts that would be coolness. Later !!!
