Swirl
It's been a long time waiting but 2 of our 3 Montipora Caps are finally swirling and growing together.
I thought I would share a picture of our orange and purple caps. |

Nothing significant. Where the purple cap has grown over the orange it obviously has no tissue there but it is not receeding further or causing problems at all. Hopefully soo our green cap will join in on the fun.

This is what we originally planned to happen when we placed our 3 caps together. We now have 5 that are all right in the same spot at the bottom of the tank. 1 green, 2 orange, 1 purple and another brown with purple polyps. I would very much like for them to all swirl together although I'm sure it will be a pain to keep them trimmed. I always thought that would be very cool though.

Let's hope the green cap swirling in goes just as good.
The only problem we are having with the orange cap is that there is a small torch coral that has grown from the piece of liverock right above it and it has played a little havoc on it. ![]() |

You may have to choose between the two...I think the cap will continue to suffer as the torch continues to grow. Do you have any plans on moving either one? Pix are fantastic, my friend,I can see that your plan on having three different color monties together is finally working.

Well here's the kicker, the torch grew out of a piece of liverock so it is permenant and the cap is attached to so many different rocks it would have to be totally busted up to move!
It's a definite problem. The purple cap (taller one in the pick) is the one you sent us. |

Sounds like you are between a rock and a hard spot there Scott. If my experience is worth anything, the torch is gonna win. They are wicked little guys

Yeah it is growing although there is no purple rim to it. I accidentally fragged it the other day when I was cleaning so we'll see how it goes. I am considering doing a Monti specific tank.
