??'s About Curing Live Rock
I have begun to cure my live rock as of Friday and have noticed that it is getting a bunch of caccoon looking things on some of the pieces of rock in the tank. What is this and what is going on right now?

Hi Ringlord
![]() Well it can be one of 2 things. 1. something dead 2. something alive (worm, coral, nudibranch? who knows) If it started out as black and now it looks moldy like, then Im gonna bet its Die Off and if so you can take a turkey baster and blast it off and fish it out and throw away....or do some water changes....make sure you have good circulation and a good skimmer to keep that rock clean as you are curing. Whats going on right now is the things that didnt make it on your rock are dieing, thus creating Die Off, and the things that did make it are starting to show life.....very interesting time to watch your rock closely HTH by the way, a pic would definately help us ID it
