SPS corals are pretty easy to frag. It is simply a matter of making a clean cut (or break) and mounting the new piece. Remove the coral from the water and place it in a bowl of water to do your work. After completing the cut and attaching the new frag I like to allow them to sit in the bowl for 15-30 minutes (they will most likely slime up). Once they slime up I like to swish them around in the bowl and then place them back into the tank.

clean cut

How would you suggest going about making a clean cut? I was always into the soft corals

I would just try to find a narrow point and break it off with a pair of plyers.

I agree with Scott. Find the most narrow point and either use pliers or one of this tools...

to make a clean cut. Those a bone shears that I got from onr of our sponsors, Premium Aquatics. BTW, Pectinia is pretty easy to frag the way Scott described.
