I just got home from a weekend trip to find my Kole dead
. He was probably dead for 2 days. I am not really worried about how he died b/c I think the yellow tang did it . They have not gotten along well in the past few days. I guess I learned the hard way that there should not be 2 tangs in a 55g!When I found him all that was left was his body (ie. no eyes, skin between fins, etc). The crabs had a feast! After I removed him I checked the other inhabitants - all were ok. Even the anemonees (sp?) that came on the LR appeared happy. Does this mean that my biological filter is fully "alive". Should I do a water change to be safe? My skimmer is pumping out some nasty foam right now and the DSB is growing a layer of algae as is some of the LR. I was about ready to begin adding corals. I guess I'll wait another month to be safe. Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks,

You should be fine. The dead Kole pumped a pretty good load of nutrients into the tank, but your filtration should be able to keep up now that you've gotten it out of there. The algae bloom and the skimmer kicking into high gear are both indicative of that.
If you're really concerned, do a quick NH3/NO2/NO3 check. It probably wouldn't hurt to do one anyway, just to rule out bad water as the cause of your tang's death.
