I've been considering a peppermint shrimp for my 20 gallon. The problem is that my Neocirrhites armatus might make a snack out of him. A few weeks ago I found a huge Aiptasia anemone in the back of my tank and promptly killed it with a vinegar injection. Much to my dismay there are more popping up now so I think I might wanna have a shrimp eat them before they grow too large...then I'll move the shrimp over to my 75g. The last flamehawk I had ate shrimp like they were Cheetos but this one is a different fish and although it has similar personalities it acts somewhat different. Would it be worth a try or is that a hopeless thought?

Well probably worth a try but will probably be a hopeless thought, especially since the fish is already established.

I have a full-grown Falco hawkfish in my tank, and when I had two peppermint shrimp (HUGE Aiptasia problem ) they were never bothered. When I bought my shrimp, I made sure they were large (they sure were!) and there were plenty of crevacies where they could sleep that the hawkfish wouldn't be able to get to. My hawk is pretty tame, and I know every fish has a different personality, but that was my experience.

Just tell your wife that having a tank teaches you all sorts of new DIY skills...which will save lots of money around the house...so you can buy more stuff for your tank...so you can learn more skills...

I think the Flame hawk would have a great meal!

I am in the same boat Chuck, but I have that Odonus Niger to contend with...

I wish I knew what I know now about this hobby when I began it. What I love about it is the fact that 5, 10 and 20 years from now I will still be saying that.

What happened? You can't just leave a cliffhanger like that!

Nothing happened but had I known what I know now about the Neocirrhites armatus I might have chosen a different fish...although it's my favorite fish.

I'll just have to nuke aiptasia when I can.
