Can I keep SPS with a Leather coral?

I have a 75 gallon tank with liverock, Lifereef skimmer and MH lights, I have two clams, and a few fish. I want to start keeping SPS but was told I couldn't because I have a Toadstool leather in my system. Is this true or not? Or just try it and see?

Leathers fight via the use of alleopathic chemicals. If you try to do this, keep them separated by as much as possible, do a lot of water changes, and keep replacing your carbon.

It can be done, I've done it. However, the growth of my SPS was definately faster when I didn't try to mix softies and SPS.

    Wow naser very nice
What I try to do with softies and LPS is keep them either in the substrate or the bottom of the rockwork to keep the warfare at a minimum. I have a couple of Leathers and thus far no problems hindering growth, as a matter of fact my Scipps stag is growing uncontrollable even though it's been accidentally fragged about 10 times
