If you want to give your fiancee nightmares, just show her this thread: Caught a 6 foot long worm in my tank!

Segmented worms...duhhhh...DOH :slap:
That's what one of my old high school teachers once called a "brain fart"
That's a great worm shot! I forgot all about that story... I think I read it on RC from one of the archived "Tank[s] of the Month" a few months ago. That was one crazy worm! Maybe I'll tell her that's going to be my next species tank!

Well, it was definately either the good guy or the bad guy. That much, I can say. Unfortunately, it was in a shadow. Color was impossible to distinguish accurately. One is red and one is brownish red form the pictures. My gut tells me it's the bad guy. But I don't want to jump to conclusions. The crime scene kinda looked like an ambush. But no way to know for sure. All I can do is wait to see if another snail, mysteriously, dies in the same location. Thanks for all the info everybody (especially Ninong).

Gary,

The so-called "bristleworms" come in a wide variety of colors. With a few notable exceptions, almost all of them are beneficial scavengers. They can retract back into their hiding places with lightning speed.
