Some Monti's To Share
Here are some pictures of our Monti's. As our tank's health increases, we are planning on doing a mostly Monti specific tank, just to be a little bit different. In the 4th picture, you can see my attempt at another "swirl" in the tank, a green branching monti within the orange encrusting/branching monti.

Nice looking stuff Scott. For some reason, I really like the Green digitata, always have.

The orange encusting/branching one grows in a unique manner. It takes up a space slightly larger than a grapefruit but the tallest branch is no more than 3".

Definitely the growth type. We have the Green Monti which branches and out German Blue which branches...

I didn't see any pics of the German blue Scott, do you have any?
What type of lighting does the blue require? |

I'll try to get one today. It isn't really blue, but a brown coral with what I would describe as Silver polyps.

Great stuff Scott! Maybe I'll try a couple swirls too, I have 3 different Monti's myself and I really like them!

Obviously there is some competition between the swirling monti's but nothing bad...at least yet.

Montipora family has so many cool growth forms! I would like to post some of mine if it is OK to hijack your thread a little Scott?
Regards, Kevin

This is one of my more unusual types. It is both encrusting and plating. I believe it is M. cactus or M. spongodes. Regards, Kevin

The first one that you posted reminds me a lot of the growth of our orange one, encrusting with some branches too.

This M. danae has a couple of Vertimid snails living in it. I don't know how they got there. Their mucas and waste is killing part of the corals so I took action with a pair of tweezers and dug them out.
The coral color is actually dark blue and dark red. The colors are washed out in this picture. I will take a few more showing the after effects of removing the snails. Maybe the color will come out better. Regards, Kevin

That's a beautiful coral,Kevin.
Those little buggers can really do a number on the coral they make a home in... I had a few in one of my Acropora colonies and the branches they were living in eventually die, however, the coral just grew a new ones in a different direction. I should've use your method and take those tweezers to them. :slap:

I lost part of a Yellow Digi colony cause of those menaces. I took the colony out and used the back of a knife to scrape everything to do with the snail off. It had built a tube along a branch and caused it to die. Since getting rid of it the colony has grown back and seems fine.
