mushroom rock

I just purchase a mushroom rock. It has 7 mushrooms on it. i also noticed and was told that i have polyps on it they seem to be red with hairs around it on the other side of the rock it looks like i have another set that looks blue is this possible? are polyps good? will they spread?

Yes polyps are good and for zoanthid lovers, very prized depending on the coloration. This is a good thing for you to have and yes they can spread. Congrats!

Thanks reefland but forgot to mention i also have bubble algae on rock also read that it could overpower you tank what should i do?

You should carefully remove them manually, trying to be sure to not bust the bubbles are you work them loose from the rock.

Thanks but, what happens if the bubble burst? I already noticed today that 2 bubbles have burst on the rock

They are full of spores that will release into the water column and can lead to even more of them spread out across the tank.

Two options:

Upload to the Gallery and use the BBCODE with the image or click on the post reply image below the last post here and under the box that you type in click the Manage Attachments button.

hope this works. but here is the only good pic that i have of the mushroom rock. You can see the bubble mushroom near the glass at the end of the rock

when this happens how soon will they start to grow and how do i remove them then?

I don't really see it in the picture. If you see more then you just have to keep manually removing them. There are a few thngs known to eat them at times like Emerald Crabs but they are hit and miss.

Cool, it's always nice to get a bonus like this when you purchase something. The really good thing here is they are as hardy as the mushrooms on the rock.

I also got a rock of red mushrooms that had bubble algae on it. i went and got two emerald mithrax crabs for around $10.each. it took them about a week to find but they got it all. hope this helps.
