Paul,
What is the PH? What are you using to measure PH? |

It was over 8.4.. I just did a 45gallon Water Change... That seems to have helped immensly... My inverts are alot happier now...
Anyways, to answer your question.. I am using a Salifert test kit.. I think when I did that "late nite" water change while siphoning some cyano out of my refugium, I managed to skew my PH levels... SHould've done it during the day.. Anyways... I changed out the 45gallons, and will do so again in about a week... This seems to be helping tho.. (Using RO/DI Water, Instant Ocean Salt) Just wish I'd had that Calcium reactor up and running... WOuld've prevented this.. Oh wel... No worse for wear.. Paul

This is just my own opinion, but I wouldn't go with drastic measures until the pH gets past 8.6.
Check your alk, that's a better indicator of your water quality. If it's high, go easy on the additives until the pH comes down a bit. If it's low, add some buffer--don't overdo it, though. Do smaller water changes every few days until your pH gets down to a more comfortable level. pH is closely tied to alkalinity. Have proper alk will help reduce some of the pH swing. Also check your pH in the morning, I think you'll find it's a little lower then. Especially if you have a lot of algae. Good luck,

I agree 8.4 is fine, no worries unless it goes higher than 8.6.
When the lights go out in the tank the PH will drop anyway (unless you have a reversed lit sump).

Well, I guess a bit more about the setup would be in order:
It's a 125g flat back hex reef tank Approximatly 225lbs of live rock, (All Walt Smith Premium Fiji) 6 inch DSB, mix of Southdown, AragaMax, and CS Aragonite.. SG at 1.024 Nitrites: undetectable NItrates: Trace Ammonia: within normal params.. Temp: 82degrees 65 gallon Refugium, stocked with 4 different species Calurpa Lit 24hrs a Day. With 3 LOA 9266 fixtures. 40 gallon Custom Acrylic Sump. Emperor Aquatics Protien Skimmer So, when I saw the PH was over the testable limit of my Salifert Testkit (8.5) I got a bit concerned... I have done the water change, and things seem to be getting better.. PH is falling.. Paul
