I'm on day 12 of curing 95# of mixed-origin rock in my 90 gal.
Today I noticed 100's (1000's ?) of almost microscopic animals on the glass and circulating. They're snow white, oblong and have antennae. They are about .5 mm in length and move relatively quickly. Anybody know what they are? |

I believe those would be pods (or is it copeods?) They are a very good thing and a sign that your rock is nearing the cured state.

Cool!
I was hoping this was a good sign. Nitrites are dropping today and nitrates rising.BTL, I caved and got my rock from Wet Pets, couldn't stand to wait .I have what I think is a good mix: 4 XL pieces, several medium and a buncha small. I'm hoping I can add some sand this weekend. I'm either going to buy that live I told you about or get some SD. Do you know if Home Depots in this area have it? |

Strangelove: It may be a bit of trek for you, but if you cannot find it at a HD near to Washington, I got mine from the HD in East Liberty. And they had a ton of it too! Good luck.

Sorry for the serious regression but I read your post about Kennywood and couldn't resist. I went to junior high and high school in Uper St. Clair and had lots of school picnics, etc. there. A major flash from the past!! It's been awhile, mid to late 60's. That sounds better than "more than 30 years ago". Haven't lived in that area for 25+ years now, been back only twice since then for HS reunions. Again sorry for butting in on your post!

No prob Seadoo.
I've been in the area about 5 yrs but have friends tell me Kennywood is much different. You'll have to come back some time to check it out. ![]() |
