Are phosphates a sign of a skimmer that not doing the job? I just got a reef lab test kit that has a phosphate tester in it. Yes ,its high 1.0ppm
.(i know thats what i said to when i saw it).I just put in some phos-x in my sump to get this in check i hope. where does it come in at? hope someone can help because i don't have a clue.thanks |

Phosphates can come from any number of sources: tapwater, salt mix, food, certain coral foods or supplements, etc. A protein skimmer cna help to remove organics which could contain phosphates, but you also need to try to minimize adding them to the system as well.
