Looking very nice Mike! I love the Butterfly, such a beautiful fish and hopefully he'll take care of your little problem too.![]()
Well after letting the tank settle a bit, I decided to chance a few new additions. I have added these pieces over the last 10 days or so, with no increase in NH3 or NO2 noticed. I am sure it has alot to do with my removing the Yellow tang, and Spotted Hawk. (Both are in a 600 gallon display tank at a LFS.)
Well here they are in order of appearance:
I think this is a form of Milli. Not real sure though.
Algae controller
Tort? It is much more blue now, I will have to post another pic once the lights come on.
The picture above was taken under AB 10K the picture below under XM 10K. What a difference!
Most Important! Aiptasia Control! So far he has been a model citizen, picking at the little devil spawns, and eating Spectrum Pellets to boot!
Finally:
My wife really liked to FORM of this guy, not much to look at as far as color, but a cool shape for sure!
I hope all is back to normal, I have Pickling Lime scheduled to arrive on Friday, so I ahve been using other additives for Ca and Alk, WOW! Are those things EXPENSIVE! I can't imagine using them on a regular basis. I guess I should post a Full tank shot too. I'll do that when the lights come on today!

Looking really good Mike! I love the flow and different depths in your sandbed.
THanks Scott! The Tunze does pretty good at arrainging the sand for me! I have left an extra powerhead in the tank too, that is the cord you see in the middle of the tank. I have it blowing up from behind the rocks. Did you see the difference in the color of the coral I posted above. Those pictures were only taken a day or two apart too!
Mike, your tank looks awesome. I wish mine can be like this. One question for you though: I heard my LFS told me that butterfly and foxface would snip on the LPS coral so I don't keep them, but you have a picture of foxface as algae controller. Do you have problems with your corals at all? And what kind of algae do buttlerfly and foxface control? Thanks.
THanks for the compliment!Originally Posted by demifelix
No problems at all! I think you have yet another example of why some LFS go out of business. The Foxface will eat most any algae's, I bought it to combat the hair algae you see in the pictures. The butterfly is a much larger risk to corals then the Foxface, I bought it to control an aiptasia problem I have. Both the algae and the Aiptasia are my fault, to some extent anyway, I was not keeping up on water changes and overfeeding to boot! I hope that I can gain control of the problems with better husbandry and these biological controls. So far thought the butterfly has not shown any interest in any of my corals, lets hope it stays that way!
Mike,
Tank looks really nice, I too like the way the sand bed looks( very natural to the eye). Both fish appear to be in good health and I wish I could add that Auriga to my anemone tank ( I have a few Aiptasias there as well) but I am sure the resident clownwitch won't like it and probably kill the poor thing.![]()
Love your tort too, good choice.![]()
Kind regards,
Gene.

Do you think that is a Tort Gene? I wasn't sure, and where I bought it, it was labeled "premium acro frag", I only paid $28 for it! That is WAY less then I see Blue Torts for Online!
I know what you mean about aggressive/territorial fish, that is why my Yellow tang is now in that LFS display tank! THe last time I tried to add a Copperband, he was all over the poor thing. I ended up taking that Copperband back to the LFS 2 hours after I bought him, I didn't want him to get killed!
You rawk Mike!Sweet pics man

Mike, to be honest I am not sure at all. The picture is a bit too small to see corallite structure, plus I;m not that good at identifying Acroporas to the species...who is?Originally Posted by Poseidon
I can only compare to my piece, I have images in my gallery if you like to compare it to.
PS. Found a picture for you, Mike, from last year. The color is way off but you can se coralites clearly.
Kind regards,
Gene.
