FW Dip for LR - flatworm cure
Since we are preparing to redo sandbeds and move, we are re-starting a live sand culture without any (hopefully) of those darned red planaria. We know that a FW dip will kill and knock the flatworms off.
The questions is: How long can we keep the rock in FW to kill as many flatworms as possible (read: all of them) but NOT kill all the other life (brine shrimp, worms, pods, the occasional featherduster, etc.) Any ideas? We really, really, really don't want to bring them with us when we move! Thanks |

Hi popcorn!
A high salinity dip may be better. This will usually drive out "hitchhikers" and hopefully the flatworms. After the dip you can pick out what you want to keep.
This is a good process to use for drving out spider crabs, mantis etc. from a fresh batch of rock. I would imagine it would be just as sucessful for flatworms. Just a thought. Scott ![]() |
